When I started Anuci Press at the end of 2023, I was truly ignorant of how the book publishing world worked.  I knew there were major publishing houses and indie publishers – nothing more.  I have learned so much since then.  The five major houses, and their subsidiaries, have quite a stranglehold on the industry.  When you are a tiny indie press, no one notices you.  You can buy advertising, you can flood social media, you can beg magazines to review your books, and still you will be mostly ignored.  When I started, I hoped to at least break even while, at the same time, help my authors to have great success.  I now know that I will rarely break even more rarely make a tiny profit.  Fortunately, I love being a part of this world, so even when it gets discouraging, I continue to drive forward.  Maybe one day I will actually become a profitable business.  Until that time, my goals have shifted slightly.  My two main goals are:

1.      Put out books I want to read.

2.      Help each author I work with move on to bigger and better things.

Ideally, every author I have published will continuing moving up the ladder signing with bigger and bigger publishers and reach the point where they can make their entire living writing – a comfortable living.  Anuci Press has become more than just a tiny indie publisher to me.  For me, it is a garden for authors to hone their talents and outgrow the garden bed.  I hope every author published by Anuci Press has tremendous success
