Despite the rapping on the walls, the stale smells, and the unsettling feeling of being watched, MARNIE BLAKELY, a former heroin addict turned counselor, and her family are beginning a fresh life in a new house and her hometown of Bernice, Louisiana
They are unaware of the house's history, as are those who continue to wander down the corridors, lay in the bathtub, or even sit by them while reading a book. All that changes when Abbott, the groundskeeper and gardener, appears. The once-silent hauntings became warnings.
MARNIE becomes increasingly concerned the more time spends inside the house. After a night out, MARNIE and her husband, JUDD, are faced with mayhem produced by their teen daughter and a made-up story that appears to be true according to their sons and next-door neighbor's son. Her curiosity gets the best of her, and she begins snooping, ending up in Abbott's room. There, she discovers the truth about who he is, why he is there, and why the house is breathing.
